History & Harvest

Stunning Patagonia landscapes provide the backdrop for the annual sacred Maqui Berry harvesting ceremony. Each berry has been carefully harvested by hand since 600 A.D. by native Mapuche Indians. Every year, they come together to celebrate the traditional gathering of the miraculous Maqui Berry. The spirit of Maqui is revered, like a cherished member of the tribe, and is considered a symbol of strength and renewal. For centuries, the Mapuches drank Maqui before battle to boost their energy and stamina.

QuiAri partners with the local Mapuches to organically harvest the Maqui Berries at the peak of antioxidant perfection, leaving the tree to replenish in order to produce future crops year after year. Once gathered, the organic berries are placed in a canoe and transported down the “river” to be processed. At the state-of-the-art processing facility, the berries are processed within 24 hours to preserve their potency and health-sustaining properties.
